Managerial Skills
Management needs skilled manager in order to take out the predefined objectives of the organization/workforce. Manager has to be versatile in his skill, so that he can control the overall workforce. Manager plays the role of leader in the workforce. Weakness in management due to absence of essential managerial skill leads to improper functioning and distance towards goals.

Management is not a simple task. It needs knowledge and experience. Managerial skills are the knowledge and ability of the individuals in a managerial position to fulfill some specific managerial
activities or tasks.  When we talk about managerial skills, we talk about skills of a manager to maintain his efficiency in the way how his or her employees complete their everyday working tasks. Let’s discuss some the important managerial skills, you really need to make impact in the workforce/organization.

1) Technical Skills
Technical skill defines the manager’s knowledge and ability to use different techniques to achieve what they want to achieve. In other word, it is the ability of a person to carry out a specific activity. In order to do so, one needs to have knowledge of methods, processes and procedures.  For example, in manufacturing departments, there may be engineers, computer specialists, accountants and other employees and they all have the necessary technical skills for their specialized fields. If we talk about technical skills, it is essential for first level managers. Let’s take one example, employees at the operational level work with tools, and their supervisors must be able to teach them how to perform the tasks assigned to them using these tools.

2) Human Skills
Human skill is also defined as interpersonal managerial skills and present a manager’s knowledge and ability to work well with other people in a group.  It is the ability to lead, motivate and communicate with people to accomplish certain objectives. And they will help them to make more effective use of human potential in the company. One of the most important tasks is to work with people, so human or interpersonal managerial skill plays crucial role in the workforce.

3) Conceptual Skills
Conceptual skill defines the ability of a person to think and conceptualize abstract situations. It is the ability to understand and coordinate the full range of corporate objectives, and predict the future of the business or department as a whole. Conceptual skills are vital for top level managers, as top-level managers have the greatest need to predict the future, to understand how the various parts of the organization relate to one another and associate the organization with the external environment. These three, technical skills, human skills and conceptual skills are the most essential skills for a successful management process. Besides these, there are many other skills, manager need to handle the management properly. Let’s discuss them as well;

i) Communication Skills
One of the most important responsibilities that managers have to be is communicate effectively, both with the employees who work under them and with other managers throughout the company. They must act as a strong connection point that bridges the gaps between lower level employees and between sales, marketing, and production departments.

ii) Diagnostic Skills
Diagnostic skill defines the manager’s ability to visualize the most appropriate response to a situation.

iii) Decision Making Skills
Decision making skill refers to the ability of a manager to correctly recognize and define problems and opportunities and to then select an appropriate course of action to solve problems and capitalize on opportunities.

iv) Problem Solving Skills
The right skill set empowers managers to identify, face, and overcome various problems that might arise in the workplace. This skill must demonstrate the activities like anticipating potential issues before they arise, identifying factors contributing to problems, interpreting critical industry data and troubleshooting quickly and efficiently.

v) Time Management Skills
Time management skills refer to the manager’s ability to prioritize work, to work efficiently, and to delegate appropriately. A successful manager must have good time management skills.
